Lights..Camera..Action.. 7TV rolling.

Myself and Martin have now got a couple of games of 7TV under our belts and are happy to report back that it is an excellent game system. Not only does the background material allow you create almost any show you like but the mechanics mean you arent looking up stat tables all the time.

We played a 200 Rating Show last night. Martin featured his Evil Cultists' who had invaded a sleepy village in rural England intent on taking over and converting the yokels to their will. However a small flaw in their plan was that the local pub in the village was the favorite watering hole of one Sid Roughdiamond, a government agent with an ego as large as his suit collection.

On hearing that his favorite tipple was off the menu Sid jumped in his Aston and sped down to the village, calling on his trusty sidekick, Den Carter, to do the same. They also called up some help from the security force from the nearby secret missile base.

The Cultist boss seeing his plan about to go all Pete Tong dispatched his force across the village to deal with Roughdiamond. Unfortunately he misread the situation and whilst trying to make use of of the cover of walls and vehicles he still managed to lose 75% of his force in 4 turns which caused him to turn and run having failed the morale test (well a nicely played event card ensured he had to run lol)

A great game and cant wait to play some more with some different casts.

Saturday 22 June 2013

The Relics:Armistice League is kicking off and one of the major teams of the league are the Britanan Jorjanian Patriots.

This is my team that I painted over the past few days and hope to see them in action on the field very soon.

Relics: Armistice League - Coming to a table near you soon.

So I received a full Britanan Armistice League team from Gav at Tor Gaming. As you would expect from these guys the casts are fantastic, very clean and well detailed with hardly any clean up or mould lines. I shall be posting up the painted minis over the next couple of days for your appreciation. If you want to know more about the game then pop over to the Tor Gaming forum at http://www.torgaming.co.uk/forum/index.php

Suffice to say this is not blood bowl as no grids or squares are used and the pitch is 2 x 4 !!

Check back for more updates soon.

Grumpy Old Wargamers Convention

Last weekend saw the inaugural outing for The Grumpy Old Wargames Convention held at Tabletop Nation. This conn is the brainchild of Templarscrusade01, if you are regular YouTube'r, if not his name is Brian and a thoroughly nice chap he is too.

The weekend was extremely well attended with tons a gamers running demos, a painting competition and more YouTube celebs than you could shake a stick at.

I met loads of great people including Spud, Andy and Chuffy, three YouTube guys who were great fun and not forgetting Chuffys lovely wife who spent a lot of time hanging with us watching Relics.

Me and Gav chat in the background whilst Spud beats a Yank into submission with the Britanans.

For the most part myself and the rest of the JAG guys spent the weekend supporting Gav of Tor Gaming fame by running Relics demos for both days. The game went down a storm, just as it always does and Wayland Games sold tons of models and the new rulebook, so much so that Gav had to keep running out to his warehouse (car) to restock them.

Day ones painting competition was well supported with some lovely minis, shame they didnt have a separate category for the pro painters who insisted on entering but hey ho.

Southend Wargames were running a truly huge FoW D-Day landings table, with 16 Allied players trying to take the beaches.

The YouTubers had a Q&A session in the bar and Beasts of War were filming all day and doing studio tours too boot.

Sunday was a relaxed day of gaming for everyone who attended and the guys who were so bust the day before got a chance to come try some games. Over on the Relics table we showed Warren from Beasts of War and a few of the guys how to play and they all enjoyed it. Must apologise to Gav as I think the Pueri are now known as Floating Naked Ladies and the Panetentium are now Sado-masochistic Dwarfs (try saying that one Brian).

A truly brilliant weekend that myself and the JAG guys will be back to fully support next year as this can only get bigger and better.

MCM ComicCon London 2013

Lottie and I ventured out to ComicCon, our first one, and it was such a blast. The place was packed with tons of people well dressed up from Pikachu through to HellBoy, and everything in-between. Loads of Steampunkers posing around and very nice they looked too. Plenty of stuff to buy and try and loads of meet and greets, photo ops etc. It was great to catch up with old friends and make some new ones too.

Lottie and the Artyfakes Troll

Lottie with Kat & James (The TTN Steampunkers)

Lottie with a Alice inspired Steampunk Girl

Lottie with our friend Tabitha Lyons.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that Lottie wants to get a Link costume and I am now looking at Steampunk apparel so that we can blend in better at our next foray.

Infinity - The Ariadnan Force

Infinity a real blast of a game. Fast, frantic fun. Its a breakneck speed game where you can't afford to look away from the table incase you miss a nice reaction shot. Small scale crew sizes make this an affordable system to play as you can field as few as five models for an effective force.

I play the Ariadnan Force which comprises of the peoples of Earth who left to settle and got cutoff for many years. They comprise, US, French, Scots and Russians and whilst not technologically advanced these guys are mean and pack a real punch with some devastating firepower and some really cool close combat surprises. Also the enemy find them infuriating as they have no tech that can be hacked.

Here is a view of some of my force.

British Para Limited Edition

With nothing on the table to paint at the moment I found this limited edition Warlord Games mini. Its of a British WWII para carrying a wounded comrade and very nice it is too.

Well the next month see's a few Relics events. Kicks off next weekend down at TabletopNation with the Tor Gaming Expo day on the 11th. At this event JAg will be running demos, there is a tournament, painting competitions, Worthy Painting will be there too and Joey Berry may well be in town too.

Also at TTN on the 8/9 June there is the Grumpy Old Gamers Convention with loads of demo games to join in and once again JAG will be in attendance with Tor Gaming to run Relics and hopefully the new sports game R:AL (Relics: Armistice League).

Cutlass The First Outing

Captain Martin and I decided to play our first game of Cutlass the other night and it was fantastic. We only played a small skirmish with 5 models per side and had them all armed the same but it worked really well to learn the game. The rules are dead simple and the idea of having a different die for each attribute works great too e.g., Combat D8, Dexterity D6.

The game flowed well amongst our new 4Ground buildings but in the end Martins female crew, who he hadnt painted, succumbed to the might of my crew. See told you all painted figures always play better.
A shot of the table set up and a few in game shots. More reports to follow.

Muskets & Tomahawks

At Salute I picked up the rules and a French starter force for Muskets & Tomahawks. Started painting the wonderful figures from North Star last night and whilst this is a work in progress just thought I would share how the first figure is shaping up as I am very pleased with it and the quality of the mini.

I shall post more as the force progresses and once my erstwhile opponents have painted their forces you may even see some battle reports.

Salute 2013.....The Aftermath !

Another Salute has come and gone, and it was yet another fantastic show. Attendance was up on last year with over 5000 people through the doors.

We were kept mighty busy all day running Relics and Carnevale over on the Wayland Games stand and a couple of our guys were run off their feet demoing Bolt Action for Warlord Games.

Shopping was good. I picked up Muskets & Tomahawks rules with a French army box, Cutlass rules with a Pirate crew from Black Scorpion, a boxed set of Micro Armour USA tanks and we clubbed together and got a fine deal on a load of 28mm 4Ground buildings.

Some pictures to come very soon.

An exhausting but very enjoyable day, where I met friends both old and new.

Bring on next year !

My Little Boudi

This is the official Diceni miniature from Hasslefree. Its Boudica, or Boudi, of course and its a great little model. Took me around 2 hours to paint this up and base.

I really enjoyed painting this model, almost as much as I enjoyed meeting the Cosplay version !!

Friday 12 April 2013

Salute 2013 is nearly here.

With just a week now until the mega event that is Salute 2013, the UKs premier Wargames show at Excel, the excitement is building. Us guys at JAG will be busy on the day running demo tables for Warlord Games, Tor Gaming and Wayland Games add to that the vast amount of shopping we all want to do and its gonna be a hectic one again. Looking forward to catching up with some old friends again and making a load of new ones. So if you are going dont forget to stop by and say hi at one of the games we are running.

Diceni The Result.

Fantastic day at Diceni yesterday. Fabulous event at a great venue run by a brilliant club. Whilst not a huge show this had it all, Wargaming, traders, figure painters, LARP and Cosplay. The team from Aftermath Games Club worked tirelessly to bring together a very well attended first show and I hope they go on to do many more as we at JAG will always be there to support them.

Probably my favorite part of the day lol.

Diceni This Weekend

For those of you not aware (where have you been hiding ?) this Sunday, 7th April 2013 Diceni is running at the Forum in Norwich. It is the inaugural show for Aftermath Wargaming Club and is shaping up to be a real doozy. JAG shall be there as well as a host of other games clubs and traders and some very cool Cosplay people. Hope to see you all there.

Warlord Napoleonic Prussians

Found these nine troops lurking in a cupboard so thought I would paint them up and see how they turned out. As always with Warlord figures they are great clean casts so that made them easier to paint. Hope you like them.

Monday 1 April 2013

Imperial Roman Army

My 28mm Roman Army from Warlord Games. Just thought I would show some more historical painting on a large army scale.

International Tabletop Day...

So I've returned from Tabletop Nations hosting of International Tabletop Day and what a great day it was too. Apart from us guys at JAG, running Dystopian Wars, Bushido, SAGA and Carnevale, there were loads of other participation games going on. Star Wars, Dreadball, Aeronautica Imperalis, Carcasonne, Warmachine, and Spartacus to name but a few. Plenty of old friends like Rid from Fanplasticlittlemen , and loads of new faces too came along and enjoyed playing games all day.

If you want to see some pictures and videos of the day then pop over to Beasts of War.

Good fun, good company and well worth doing again next year.

Hope to see you all there.

International Tabletop Day

Just a quick heads up to remind one and all that tomorrow, Saturday 30th March, is International Tabletop Day at Tabletop Nation, http://tabletopnation.simpletix.com/Event/32/Tabletop-Day-Saturday-30th-Mar/ so come along and meet up with new and old friends for a great days gaming. There will be wargames, board games and RPGs going on. Beasts of War will be on the prowl too and us guys from JustAboutGames, http://www.facebook.com/justaboutgames.co.uk, will be in attendance to run Dystopian Wars and Bushido participation/demo games. Other companies will also be there with the likes of Rid from Fanplasticlittlemen, http://fanplasticlittlemen.blogspot.co.uk, a great painting service blog down to join in the fun.

An epic tale

So myself and Rear Admiral Lee took the the high seas the other night to play a game of Dystopian Wars. It was a naval encounter with tiny fliers only and it proved to be a real tough time for the British fleet.

The fleets face off as Rear Admiral Lee checks the weather report in the Channel.

First blood to the French as a cruiser goes down to the combined power of the French cruisers and frigates.

Meanwhile on the other flank the British fliers advance only to be met by the French Ack Ack (I did warn him lol)

At this stage Martin realised that he might have manoeuvred himself badly as his battleship was stuck.

With the hull points starting to rack up the French closed in for the kill and destroyed the rest of the British fleet.

A great evening of gaming with two nicely balanced forces. The dice were very kind to me on this outing.
